NextSense School is a K-6 campus for children with hearing or vision loss. We provide high-quality teaching to achieve positive outcomes in a student-focused environment. We design individualised learning plans that blend research and evidence-based teaching practices. These plans integrate language, literacy, social and emotional learning with the curriculum. We’re a community that values diverse cultures, languages and abilities. Our students thrive because we offer a supportive and safe learning environment. You’ll find our custom-designed building on the edge of the Macquarie University precinct.
We offer three distinct school programs in an accessible and inclusive setting.
Spoken Language Program
for children who have hearing loss and are learning to listen and speak.
Sign Bilingual Program
for children who access learning through Australian Sign Language (Auslan) and English in its written form.
Blind & Low Vision Program
for children who have vision impairment or low vision.

As a parent of a child with sensory disability you’ll be very involved with your child’s education. We’ll partner with you, your child, and your family. You’ll gain the knowledge and skills to support your child’s learning at home and in the community. Our goal is for students to finish Year 6 with the confidence and readiness to thrive in high school.
