NextSense School offers three school programs for children with hearing or vision loss. Our programs deliver high-quality schooling in an accessible and inclusive setting. We follow the national curriculum alongside an expanded core curriculum. This model teaches a range of skills to enable students to work around any learning barriers. It cultivates a sense of belonging and builds confidence for life beyond school.

About the Spoken Language Program

Kindergarten to Year 6

A program for children who have hearing loss and are learning to listen and speak.

This stream has a strong reputation for first-rate, innovative teaching. Students focus on the ongoing development of spoken language alongside the national curriculum. The dedicated teaching team supports each student with an individual education plan. This environment encourages confident participation in the classroom.

About the Sign Bilingual Program

Kindergarten to Year 6

A program for children who access learning through Auslan and English in its written form.

This stream delivers excellence in bilingual education. It fulfils the academic, social and cultural needs of students who are deaf and use Auslan as their first language. Teachers of the Deaf champion both language development and a deeper understanding of Deaf culture. Students also gain competency in written English.

About the Blind Low Vision Program

Kindergarten to Year 6

A program for children who have vision impairment or low vision.

This stream has a long history of providing outstanding education tailored to meet the unique needs of each child. Our multidisciplinary team focus on core life skills alongside the national curriculum. A key part of the Teachers of Vision role is braille instruction. We aim to maximise each student’s vision potential through low vision aids and tailored teaching strategies.
